R’Bonney Gabriel of the USA was named Miss Universe 2022 by Harnaaz Sandhu as her successor. By becoming the third individual to win the coveted crown for India, Harnaaz made history in December 2021. Prior to the 22-year-old, Sushmita Sena and Lara Dutta had successfully defended the national title. The magnificent reign of Harnaaz came to an end tonight, and her final walk on the Miss Universe platform was filled with emotion. The actress shed some tears as she addressed the audience and the new Miss Universe in an emotional speech. Harnaaz tripped on stage and had a similar “Oops” moment. Harnaaz Sandhu, the outgoing Miss Universe, made her final walk on Sunday (IST) before R’bonney Gabriel of the United States was crowned as her successor. Harnaaz Sandhu, who was dressed all in black, managed to contain her tears as she blew air kisses, tripped on stage, and even fell. Her voiceover played at the poignant time, “When I first ascended the stage at the age of 17, I had made it my mission to become Miss Universe. I’ve been given the opportunity to use a loudspeaker on a global stage to urge world leaders to continue the discourse about menstruation equity.”
The video shows an emotional Harnaaz greeting the audience at the Miss Universe ceremony. At at 00:34, she trips over her dress but quickly gets up, displaying her elegance and confidence on stage.
Harnaaz’s black wedding dress was another eye-catching scene on stage. She paid respect to Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen, her predecessors. Pictures of their winning moment from the pageant were displayed on the low-cut, embroidered outfit.
Harnaaz’s admirers of the actress also praised the garment. A member of the internet wrote: “It seemed as though three INDIAN MISS UNIVERSE were taking their final stroll. nice and original dress” another remarked, “A Miss Universe should wear something like that. For all Indian women who will follow in your footsteps, Harnaaz has set a very high bar.”
