Isha Foundation conducts free yoga and meditation sessions for students across Delhi-NCR schools
New Delhi, May 18: At a time when concerns around stress, anxiety and emotional wellbeing among students are increasing, Isha Foundation has been conducting free yoga and meditation sessions across schools in Delhi-NCR to help children develop simple daily wellbeing practices.
As part of the initiative, more than 1,250 students from two government schools participated in sessions held on Monday morning at Government Senior Secondary School, Kadipur and Sarvodaya Co-Education Senior Secondary School. The programme focused on introducing students to basic yoga and meditation techniques aimed at improving concentration, emotional balance and overall mental wellbeing.

The initiative is being organised in the lead-up to the International Day of Yoga 2026 and is part of spiritual leader Sadhguru’s larger vision of making wellbeing tools more accessible to people across different sections of society.
According to organisers, around 24 sessions have been conducted across Delhi-NCR since May, reaching more than 7,800 students from both government and private schools. Nearly half of these sessions were held in government schools, allowing the programme to reach children who may have limited access to structured mental wellness support.
Special focus during the workshops has been placed on students from Classes 9 to 12, with volunteers helping them address exam pressure, stress and anxiety through simple breathing and meditation practices. Students from Class 4 onwards also participated in the sessions.
In addition to students, teachers and school staff were also introduced to short meditation techniques that can be used within classrooms and school environments. Organisers said schools were encouraged to continue brief daily meditation practices independently after the workshops.

The sessions also introduced participants to the free “Miracle of Mind” meditation application, which offers guided meditation practices designed for everyday use.
The initiative comes amid growing discussions around the mental health challenges faced by school students, including academic pressure, excessive screen time, social isolation and changing lifestyle patterns. Educators and wellbeing experts have increasingly stressed the need for practical and accessible tools that can help children manage emotional stress from an early age.
Volunteers associated with the programme said several schools have responded positively to the initiative and shown interest in continuing regular wellbeing practices for students.

With International Day of Yoga approaching, Isha Foundation volunteers are expected to continue conducting free sessions across schools and educational institutions in the coming weeks. Apart from schools, similar sessions are also being organised in corporate offices, residential communities, hospitals, senior citizen groups and care homes as part of a wider outreach effort.
