Disney has come under fire after unveiling the new look of the famous Minnie Mouse. Netizens were quick to react to this makeover of the popular character.
One can see the beloved Minnie Mouse wearing a ‘woke’ blue pantsuit designed by Stella McCartney.
However, Minnie Mouse’s signature red polka-dot dress will be a big miss for the fans undoubtedly.
Disneyland Paris shared the famous character’s blue pantsuit on Tuesday via Twitter. It made the big announcement of Minnie’s makeover — a high-fashion one as a part of its acceptance of progressive mindset. The change also honors its 30th anniversary.
But, as we all know that big changes are never smooth, specially when it is something related to changing Minnie, a character that has been winning hearts since almost 100 years.
Twitter was brimming with outrage over this style change.
Minnie was created in 1928 and since then she has worn the red and white polka-dot dress.
Her new look also sees the character switching up the red ensemble for a blue one.
Stella McCartney has created this new sustainable costume for Minnie Mouse in honor of Women’s History Month — March.
The blue pantsuit also comes in celebration of the French park’s anniversary. This very well manifests how the ensemble is meant to transform the cartoon into ‘a symbol of progress for a new generation’.
Minnie Mouse’s new blue pant suits — a thumbs up or down?
Disney’s this move has raised a lot of questions on why Minnie Mouse has been given this ‘woke’ new makeover?
Moreover, this comes in a series of changes that Disney has been up to in the past two years. The conglomerate has implemented several progressive changes ranging from adding racism warnings to several of its classic movies to anti-racism training for its staff.
Fans are left wondering how stripping Minnie Mouse of its famous white-and-red polka dot dress, she is best known for, brings progress?
Although, Minnie has had few different outfits in the past as a cartoon. But her signature red dress has been a staple in the theme parks.

The designer Stella had launched her own clothing line in 2001. She is also a big name in the fashion industry.
As per Stella, “Minnie has always had a ‘special place in her heart’ since they share the ‘same values.”
Art and costume somewhere reflect a society’s limits of imagination. The abstract stuff is only understood by a handful may be, but costumes better reflect the changing times and airs.
So, what do you think about Disney’s makeover of Minnie Mouse with the blue pant suits? Is it good, bad, a fashion crime or changing times?
