Created by Erika Thormahlen and Jeremy Konner, Waffles+Mochi marks the debut of Michelle Obama in the world of culinary entertainment at Netflix. With the help of 2 puppets, she promotes discovering, cooking and eating healthy and tasty food in the series.
What is Waffles+Mochi about?
The Netflix show stars the former First Lady as a supermarket owner. She hires 2 aspiring chef puppets, Waffles and Mochi, from the Land of the Frozen Food.
Bored of their dishes made out of ice, the trio embark on global adventures. They seek new recipes and healthy ingredients. Furthermore, the puppets get to meet world class chefs like Samin Nosrat and Jose Andres during their trips!
Celebrity Appearances
Alongside Michelle Obama, the show has cameos from Netflix stars like Rashida Jones, Tan France, Zach Galifianakis, and Gaten Matarazzo. Additionally, it will be featuring superstars like Sia, Jack Black, Mandy Moore showcasing the nuances of having fun while cooking!
Puppeteers and voice-over actors include Russ Walko, Michelle Zamora, Andy Hayward, and Jonathan Kidder and Diona Elise Burnett.

Obama’s heartfelt message
Michelle Obama shares in promotional Instagram post “I also know that this is a difficult time for so many families, and I’m hopeful that this delightful show can bring a bit of light and laughter to homes around the world”.
She concluded it with a touching assurance, “As part of the show’s commitment to helping families during the pandemic, we’re working with our partners at @PHAnews to get fresh ingredients to families in need across the country so they can cook together at home.”
The show will be collaborating with her NPO for this wonderful cause.
