On World Cancer Day 2022, here we are sharing some foods with anti-cancer properties.
Moreover, one can avoid cancer by making some simple lifestyle modifications. Several studies have found that majority of cancer cases have their root in lifestyle and environment.
And only a small percentage can be attributed to genetic defects. It shows that the disease can be controlled to a great extent.
Furthermore, cigarette smoking, poor diet such as fried foods and red meat, alcohol, sun exposure, environmental pollutants, stress, obesity, and physical inactivity are some of the factors that can increase cancer risk.
Every year, World Cancer Day is observed worldwide on February 4 to raise awareness about the deadly disease.
Foods that prevent Cancer
Green Tea: Green tea leave are packed with more properties that help in preventing and managing cancer. Green tea also contains an antioxidant known as EGCG. It helps in fighting free radicals and quell inflammation. They also help protect cells against cellular damage.
Mushrooms: Research shows the benefits of mushrooms for cancer. Also, many functional medicine supplements have mushrooms as an ingredient for the very same reason.
Cruciferous vegetables: Crucifers are rich in sulforaphane, antioxidants, and choline. These are the most powerful immune-boosting and scientifically studied anticancer group of veggies.
Apigenin-rich foods: Foods that contain a compound called apigenin is a well-researched ingredient for its positive role in every cancer. Apigenin is found in apples, cherries, grapes, celery, parsley, chamomile tea, and basil too.
Kiwi: This fruit plays a big role in DNA repair and it is also rich in vitamin c. This is what makes it an essential food during chemotherapy and radiation.
