World Civil Defence Day History
The history of World Civil Defence Day dates back to 1990, when the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) declared March 1st as the annual observance to commemorate the establishment of the organization. The ICDO was founded in 1931 to promote international cooperation in civil defense, and to provide technical assistance and training to member states in disaster preparedness and response.
