It is World Hypertension Day on May 17 today. We often hear people and experts talking about hypertension.
And how it is more prevalent than ever before. Hypertension is also known as High Blood Pressure. It is a common heart anomaly tormenting almost 26 per cent of the world population.
In hypertension, the arterial blood pressure increases to higher levels. This may even lead to heart attacks, strokes, and even death.
Therefore, raising awareness on Hypertension is very important for all of us. It is predicament, specially in low to middle income areas.
This year’s theme on World Hypertension Day is “Measure your blood pressure, control it, live longer”.
Yoga poses to control Hypertension:
Uttanasana (Forward Bent Pose)
This is an extremely therapeutic pose. It enhances immunity, attenuates stress and relaxes the mind. Forward bend pose will also help the blood gush to the head and enhance blood circulation.
Viparita Karani for hypertension
This posture remains one of the relaxing poses. It allows you to lie flat on the ground with your legs up without much twisting.
Sethubandhasana (Bridge Pose)
It lifts the heart at a raised level than that of the head. This pose also facilitates blood circulation to even the most difficult and out of reach places.
Shavasana (Corpse Pose)
This yoga pose calms the mind and helps in respiratory disorders. It is one of the best poses to tackle stress.
