Greater Noida Man Ties Neighbor’s Dog to Car

Dankaur, Greater Noida – In a spine-chilling incident that has sent shockwaves across the National Capital Region, a 40-year-old man allegedly tied his neighbor’s German Shepherd to his SUV and dragged the helpless animal for 12 kilometers—simply because the dog barked at his son. The gruesome act, captured in parts by locals, has triggered nationwide outrage, with animal rights activists and citizens demanding the strictest punishment under the law.

How It Unfolded: A Father’s Revenge Turns Brutal

According to the Dankaur Police, the accused, Amit Sharma (a local medical shop owner), claimed his son was playing near the neighbor’s house on Wednesday when the dog barked, startling the child. Instead of handling the situation calmly, Sharma allegedly beat the dog with a stick, then tied it to his Mahindra Scorpio and drove off, dragging the animal behind him.

But the dog’s owner, Sudhir Indoria, tells a different story. In his police complaint, Indoria stated that his pet was chained to the gate when Sharma’s son provoked the dog by throwing stones at it. "The dog reacted out of fear, but instead of apologizing or talking to me, Sharma took matters into his own hands in the most horrific way possible,

Indoria, who was inside his home when the attack began, rushed out after hearing his dog’s cries—only to witness Sharma speeding away with the animal being dragged mercilessly on the road. "I ran after the car, shouting for him to stop, but he ignored me," Indoria said, his voice shaking with anger.

The dog, severely injured with deep wounds and broken bones, was immediately rushed to a veterinary hospital, where it remains in critical condition. Veterinarians say the animal suffered extreme trauma and will require weeks, if not months, of recovery.

Police Action & Legal Consequences

Following Indoria’s complaint, the Dankaur Police registered an FIR under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and arrested Sharma on Friday. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison—but activists argue that the punishment is not nearly enough for such deliberate brutality.

Munendra Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that the case is being treated with zero tolerance. "We have seized the vehicle and are gathering all evidence, including CCTV footage from the route Sharma took," he said.

Why This Case Should Anger Every Citizen

This isn’t just about one dog—it’s about the kind of society we’re becoming. If a man can torture an animal in broad daylight over something as trivial as a bark, what does that say about our moral compass?

Animal rights groups have already begun protests outside the Dankaur Police Station, demanding harsher penalties for such crimes. "The law needs to change—this level of cruelty deserves a lifetime ban on pet ownership and stronger jail terms," said Priya Menon, an activist with the People for Animals (PFA).

What You Can Do

  1. Report Abuse Immediately – If you witness animal cruelty, call the local police or animal helpline (like PFA’s +91 9910122600).

  2. Support Animal Shelters – Donate or volunteer at organizations working to protect strays and pets.

  3. Spread Awareness – Share this story. Public pressure can force faster justice.

This case should serve as a wake-up call. If we stay silent, we’re complicit. Let’s demand better laws, stricter enforcement, and real consequences for those who think animals are disposable.
