Major Development for Noida Residents: FIR to be Registered for Faulty Elevators in Societies; Responsible Parties to Face Action
In a significant move aimed at ensuring the safety and convenience of residents in high-rise buildings, the district administration of Gautam Buddha Nagar, covering Noida and Greater Noida, has announced that FIRs will now be registered in cases of malfunctioning elevators. The decision was made following a series of incidents where residents found themselves trapped in elevators due to technical failures.
The district administration, led by District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, held a meeting on Friday to address the growing issue of faulty elevators in residential societies. After careful consideration, it was decided that under the Disaster Management Act of 2005, strict actions would be taken against those responsible, including maintenance agencies and other accountable parties.
This directive comes in response to numerous complaints from residents who have been repeatedly inconvenienced by malfunctioning elevators in their buildings. The issue has become a significant concern for many, prompting the administration to take decisive action.
Just recently, three people were trapped in an elevator for 25 minutes at the Amrapali Golf Homes Society in Greater Noida. The incident occurred in Tower B4, where the elevator's doors failed to open after reaching the ground floor. The trapped individuals were eventually rescued by security guards who manually unlocked the doors using keys.
The district administration has also highlighted additional concerns, including complaints about dilapidated buildings and unauthorized coaching centers operating in basements. The DM has directed strict action against such violations and instructed the use of drones to monitor illegal constructions in lower-lying areas.
This new policy aims to prevent further incidents and ensure that residents feel safe in their homes. By holding maintenance agencies and responsible parties accountable, the administration hopes to significantly reduce the occurrence of elevator-related issues in the future.
The directive underscores the administration's commitment to maintaining safety standards in Noida and Greater Noida, ensuring that residents are not subjected to unnecessary risks or inconveniences.
