Noida's New Automated Puzzle Parking: Say Goodbye to Long Waits and Parking Hassles!
Noida is set to revolutionize its parking experience with the introduction of an automated puzzle parking system aimed at significantly reducing parking time and alleviating the city's persistent parking issues. This innovative facility will debut outside the Sector 6 office of the Noida Authority, marking the first of its kind in the region.
Overview of the Puzzle Parking System
The automated puzzle parking system is designed to minimize the time required to park a vehicle, slashing the usual 15 to 20 minutes spent in traditional parking structures to just 5 to 6 minutes. This is achieved through a sophisticated mechanism that efficiently moves cars up and down within a series of slots, allowing for rapid parking and retrieval.
The first facility will feature a five-story structure that can accommodate up to 50 vehicles. Additionally, the Noida Authority plans to establish two more multi-level parking facilities in busy commercial zones, which will together have the capacity for an additional 100 cars.
How It Works
Each level of the puzzle parking system will hold five cars, maximizing space utilization. The design is particularly compact, enabling the construction of these five- to six-floor structures on relatively small plots of land. The system is sensor-based, enhancing security by reducing the risk of vehicle theft or damage. An official from the Noida Authority explained, “Machines will transport vehicles between floors, and sensors will halt the system if any object or animal enters the parking area, ensuring safety.”
The estimated cost for building each parking slot in this system is approximately ₹8 lakh, with the total cost for the 50-slot facility projected to be around ₹4 crore. The automated nature of the system will also require only a minimal staff presence, further streamlining operations.
Future Plans and Locations
In addition to the facility at Sector 6, three locations have been earmarked for future developments of the automated puzzle parking system, including areas near Fortis Hospital in Sector 62 and Savitri Market in Sector 18. This initiative not only aims to address parking shortages but also seeks to enhance the overall convenience and efficiency of urban transport in Noida.
Currently, Noida operates six multi-level parking facilities, with the largest located in Sector 38A, which accommodates 7,000 vehicles at a cost of ₹580 crore. Other facilities include those in Sector 18 (3,000 vehicles), Sector 16A (1,292 vehicles), Sector 3 (565 vehicles), Sector 1 (534 vehicles), and Sector 5 (262 vehicles).
The implementation of the automated puzzle parking system in Noida is expected to be a game changer, transforming how residents and visitors manage parking in the bustling city. By reducing parking time and enhancing security, this initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing urban infrastructure in Noida.
