No E-Rickshaws or Trucks Allowed! Noida's New Traffic Rules Ban Vehicles on Busy Roads During Peak Hours!
Noida, India — Noida Police have issued a new traffic advisory imposing restrictions on the movement of certain vehicles, including e-rickshaws and freight trucks, on several key roads in the city during peak hours. This move comes in response to the implementation of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-1) starting on October 14, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and maintaining air quality standards.
Restricted Roads and Timings
The advisory outlines restrictions on specific types of vehicles during peak traffic hours, which are between 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The affected routes include:
- Noida and Greater Noida Expressway
- MP 1, MP 2, and MP 3 roads
Noida Traffic Police have canceled previous orders and issued fresh guidelines that align with the GRAP-1 plan, which was implemented under the directions of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
New Traffic Measures Under GRAP-1
Traffic DCP Yamuna Prasad explained that the restrictions are being enforced to manage traffic flow and control congestion on busy roads. Previously, heavy commercial vehicles were restricted, but now smaller freight vehicles are also banned from these routes during designated hours.
The following roads are affected by the new restrictions:
- Noida Expressway: Both sides of the carriageway will see restrictions for freight vehicles.
- Udyog Marg: From Sector 15 Roundabout to Jhundpura Chowk.
- Sector Routes: From Sector 2/3 to Sector 12/56.
- Atta Peer to DM Chowk and Jalvayu Vihar Chowk to Sector 54: Movement of freight vehicles will be restricted during peak hours.
Objectives Behind the Restrictions
The primary goal of these restrictions is to alleviate traffic congestion and improve traffic conditions during rush hours. Noida Police are also focused on maintaining air quality standards under GRAP-1. By limiting the movement of freight vehicles and e-rickshaws during peak times, authorities aim to reduce emissions and minimize disruptions for commuters.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during restricted hours. The advisory aims to create smoother traffic conditions in Noida and reduce environmental impact during the peak congestion times.
