A young boy was trapped for over an hour in a malfunctioning lift at the Saviour GreenArch society in Greater Noida West on Sunday night, sparking concerns about elevator safety in the area. The boy was finally rescued when technicians from the building's maintenance department arrived and used iron rods to pry open the lift door.

This incident has brought to light the persistent issue of elevator malfunctions in the region, despite the introduction of the UP Lift and Escalator Act 2024, which was intended to prevent such occurrences. The act mandates regular maintenance and safety checks, yet incidents like these continue to happen, raising questions about enforcement and compliance.

This episode occurred just over a month after a similar incident in Noida's Jaypee Greens Wish Town society in Sector 13, where two women house helps were also trapped in a malfunctioning lift for more than an hour before being rescued.

Residents are increasingly concerned about the reliability of elevators in high-rise buildings, calling for stricter oversight and more rigorous safety protocols to prevent such dangerous situations in the future.
