Report: Dalai Lama’s Advisers, Tibetan officials were Potential Targets of Pegasus Spyware

The advisers of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama were included on the list of potential targets of the Pegasus spyware programme, according to The Wire.

The leaked database showed the phone number of staff of other Buddhist clerics, Tibetan officials, and activists marked for monitoring from late 2017 to early 2019, the media organization said.

However, the presence of the phone numbers on the database doesn’t show the infiltration of Pegasus spyware into targeted devices. Only a forensic analysis can determine it, the publication added.

According to The Wire, the first records of surveillance include those who are around the Dalai Lama.
