Hyderabad Overseas Job Fraud Case: Jubilee Hills Police Arrest Two Linked to ‘Trivial Chapter’
Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills Police have uncovered an alleged overseas job fraud racket operating under the name “Trivial Chapter.” The accused are suspected of cheating several unemployed youths by offering fake job opportunities in European countries and collecting large sums of money in return. Two members connected to the case have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining accused.
How the Alleged Scam Worked
According to police officials, the group targeted job seekers by promising placements in countries such as Greece, Romania, Italy, and Serbia. Victims were allegedly asked to pay between ₹4 lakh and ₹5 lakh for processing, visa, and placement-related formalities.
Police said the accused reportedly issued fake offer letters and forged work authorization documents to gain the trust of candidates. After collecting money, communication with the applicants was allegedly stopped, leaving many without jobs or refunds.
Social Media Platforms Used to Reach Victims
Investigators revealed that the accused mainly operated through Instagram and Facebook, presenting themselves as a professional overseas recruitment consultancy. Authorities also found that the firm did not possess a valid Recruitment Agent (RA) License issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Officials suspect that several documents used in the process were created using online templates to make the operation appear genuine.
Two Arrested, Several Others Missing
The police have arrested:
- Lanka Nirupama (A7)
- Mamidi Arun Raj (A8)
Both were taken into custody on April 14, 2026. Police sources said questioning is currently underway to gather more information about the network and its operations.
Meanwhile, a search is ongoing for eight other accused persons, including individuals believed to be associated with the company’s management and visa operations. Authorities also stated that the firm had earlier fraud-related records within the KPHB Police Station limits.
Police Issue Advisory for Overseas Job Seekers
Following the case, Hyderabad Police urged citizens to remain cautious while applying for overseas jobs. Officials advised candidates to:
- Verify recruitment agencies through the official eMigrate portal
- Avoid dealing with unauthorized consultants
- Cross-check offer letters and visa documents before making payments
Police said investigations are continuing to identify more victims and gather evidence related to the alleged fraud network.
The case has once again highlighted the growing number of online overseas job scams targeting young job seekers through social media platforms.
