A 180-million-year-old skeleton of Dinosaur has been found in Lufeng city of China’s Yunnan province. The Jurassic-era fossil discovered by Chinese paleontologists is almost 70 % intact.

According to the Chinese paleontologists, the remnant of Dinosaur found in a layer of soil belonged to an 8-meter long Lufengosaurus Dinosaur, a species of Dinosaur that was found in Southwest China during the early Jurassic period.

“The fossil can be seen as a national treasure and the discovery will be considered a shocking event in the history of global paleontology if we manage to excavate the fossil’s head bones during the next excavation project,” Wang Tao, the chief of the Dinosaur Fossil Conservation and Research Centre, was quoted as telling Global times.

The fossil was found in the hilly area where there is a high risk of soil erosion. The Dinosaur Fossil Conservation and Research Centre is excavating the skeletal remnant of the Dinosaur to save from its unforeseen damages.

“According to the fossils we have discovered over the years and based on its tail and thigh bones, it should be a type of a giant Lufengosaurus, which lived during the early Jurassic period,” Tao added.
