Terraforming Mars: NASA has a long list of scientists who have helped the human race know more about the earth, planets and Universe and other things around us.
Be it Sun or Mars, the red planet, NASA’s insights have brought us too close to the faraway world of space.
One of its gem scientists, Jim Green has come up with a novel idea of terraforming Mars.
Since joining NASA in 1980, he has contributed a great deal of knowledge when it comes to knowing about Earth’s magnetic field, outer solar system and search for life on Mars.
Working for these many years, he also served as the director of NASA’s planetary science division and has been its chief scientist.
Besides, he also helped shape much of NASA’s scientific inquiry; he oversaw missions across the solar system.
Earlier in his career, he specialized in Earth’s magnetic field and plasma waves but he further diversified his research portfolio.
Terraforming Mars
One of Jim Green’s most recent significant proposals remains a scale for verifying the detection of alien life. It is called the ‘confidence of life detection,’ or CoLD, scale.
His published work suggests that we could terraform Mars, or make it habitable for humans. This can be done using a giant magnetic shield to stop the sun from stripping Mars’ atmosphere, raising the temperature on the surface.
Moreover, he has been a proponent of the exploration of other worlds.
Earlier, Jim Green had expounded upon some of the wide-ranging work and the search for life in the solar system.
From finding phosphine on Venus to methane on Mars, he is way too interested in finding Life on other planets. Jim Green among others scientists of NASA is paving the way for launching missions to find out more about life on other planets.
