The animal, which was first identified as a hummingbird-sized Dinosaur, has been identified as a new species of Lizard.
The researchers who carried out a new study on the new species of Lizard once identified as the hummingbird-sized Dinosaur also described the new species of Oculudentavis.
Published by the Current Biology, the new study presents the new species in the form of a partial skeleton. The partial skeleton includes a complete skull.
The specimen is in the same genus as Oculudentavis khaungraae. Its original description as the smallest bird was withdrawn last year. Both of the fossils were found in the same area.
Led by Arnau Bolet of Barcelona’s Institute De Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont, the team of researchers used CT scans to separate, analyze, and compare fossils of species, which helped them to identify a small animal as the lizard.
