Alastair Cook to Brendon McCullum: Cricketers who batted more than 12 hours in Test cricket

Alastair Cook (836 minutes vs Pakistan)

Alastair Cook has played the longest Test cricket inning in this 21st century.

He set this mark four years ago in the UAE against Pakistan.

Cook batted for over 13 hours and 236 runs from 528 balls to ensure England did not lose the Test match.

Hashim Amla (790 minutes vs England)

Hashim Amla is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of Test cricket.

In 2012, the South African batsman had his greatest inning against England.

At The Oval, he batted for 790 minutes and scored 311 runs to help his team win by innings.

Brian Lara (778 minutes vs England)

In the history of international cricket, Brian Lara holds the record for the highest score.

In 2004, he hammered a 400 versus England in Test cricket .

Before Lara called the game, the inning had lasted 12 hours and 58 minutes.

Brendon McCullum (775 minutes vs India)

Another game in which a player batted for more than 12 hours was against India in 2014, when Brendon McCullum became the first Kiwi to reach a triple century.

McCullum showed off his defensive skills by scoring 302 runs off 559 balls.

It was a marathon knock that will live in infamy.

Alastair Cook (773 minutes vs India)

Alastair Cook enjoyed the opportunity to play India.

Cook produced a marathon knock of 294 runs off 545 balls in 2011 against India to help England win the game by an innings and 242 runs.

Cook lasted 12 hours and 53 minutes in the inning.
