Team India defeated New Zealand in the second and final test match to win the series by 1-0
India won the toss and elected to bat first. Team India batting first scored 325 runs in the first innings and bowled out Kiwis on 62. Then declared themselves on 276 and bowled out Kiwis on 167.
Ravichandran Ashwin was awarded with the player of the series for his splendid bowling through the two test matches.
Ashwin took 14 in these two test matches and achieved a historic record in test matches between India and New Zealand after surpassing Sir Richard Hadlee.
He also surpassed Harbhajan Singh and the bowling legend Anil Kumble to achieve another Iconic Indian record.

R Ashwin was awarded with the player of the series for the 14 wickets he took in 2 test matches.

Ashwin recorded handful of records with his names in the series, which included surpassing Harbhajan Singh to become the third leading wicket taker for India in test and surpassing Sir Richard Hadlee.
By the end of the the second test, he recorded another achievement and surpassed the Indian bowling legends Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble for another Iconic record.
On the third day with the second wicket of the innings, Ashwin went past Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh in taking 50 wickets in a calendar year for the most number of times.
He now have achieved this feat for the fourth time in his career. Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh had this achievement in three different years.

Ashwin took 62 wickets in 2015, 72 in 2016 and 56 in 2017.
Harbhajan had this feat in the years 2001, 2002 and 2008, while Anil Kumble had this feat in 1999, 2004 and 2006.
Ashwin has achieved this feat for a record four times and has also achieved it for three consecutive years during his run in 2015 to 2017.
He is now only 8 wickets away from surpassing Kapil Dev to become the second highest test wicket taker for Team India.
