Test hopeful Cameron Green was struck on the head during the second warm-up game between Australia A and India A and what followed has roped in heaps of praise for pacer Md Siraj. Ahead of the much-awaited Border Gavaskar Test series both the hosts and visitors were engaged in two warm-up games. It paved the way for determining the possible XIs of both the contingents.
Bowling to Jasprit Bumrah in the 45th over of the innings, Green took a blow on his head from a returning shot off the bat of Bumrah. The Aussie Test hopeful, tried his best to defend himself from the blow with both his hands but the ball struck on his head. In the opposite end was Siraj who ran across the pitch to check on Green who dropped down on the ground.
Immediately the medical staff rushed to the ground to have a look at Green but he walked off the ground by himself. But what drew attention was Siraj’s instant reaction to the incident. He let go of his bat and rushed to Green’s side to ensure the opponent pacer was not too seriously injured.
CA Team Doctor Pip Inge said via a statement, “Cameron sustained a mild concussion while bowling for Australia A against India at the SCG today. This is Cameron’s first concussion. He has returned to the team hotel and will not play the remaining two days of the tour match. We will continue to monitor him and provide an update on his condition in due course.”
In the first game, Australia’s Will Pucovski was hit on the helmet too. He was struck by a Kartik Tyagi delivery, leading to a “mild concussion”.
And his reaction had Twitterati buzzed:
Non-striker batsman Mohd Siraj quickly rushed to check on Cameron Green, who got hit on the head by a Jasprit Bumrah straight drive.
