Aus vs Ind: Are you okay Virat Kohli?

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has become the talk of the town after his second catch drop in two consecutive T20Is. Otherwise touted as the safest pair of hands on the field, Kohli found himself dropping a sitter in the 1st T20I and a comparatively tough catch (not according to his standards) in the 2nd T20I of the ongoing series in Australia. Earlier in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper came under fire for dropping KL Rahul twice in the same match.

With the 1st T20 in their pocket, the men in blue locked their horns with Mathew Wade led Australia in the 2nd T20I on Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Sending the hosts to bat first, India’s plan to keep the Aussies at bay got foiled by Wade’s stormy 25-ball 50. Washington Sundar bowled a slower one and the ball went straight to Kohli at cover. It was an absolute dolly but Kohli ended up making a mess of it and spilled the chance.

In the first T20I, Kohli got a chance to send opener D Arcy Short back to the hut in the seventh over of Australia’s innings. When opener Short tried to slash a short ball from Deepak Chahar and played it in the air, Kohli came under the ball and what looked like a routine catch for the Indian skipper, he dropped it.

Although on Sunday, Wade’s luck ran out as he came sprinting halfway down the pitch only to let Kohli pick the ball up and throw it back to Rahul near the stumps.

In the IPL this year, Kohli’s RCB took on KL Rahul’s KXIP, where the former dropped Rahul twice. Rahul went on to wreak havoc at the RCB bowlers in the death overs smacking boundaries all over the park. He went on to score 132 off 69 deliveries with the help of 14 fours and 7 sixes in his scintillating knock.
