Avoiding a “disaster”, Ravindra Jadeja pulled off a fine running catch off Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling as he sent Matthew Wade back to the pavilion in the second Test match on Saturday.
In the 13th over, Ashwin beat Wade in flight as a lofted shot was mistimed by the Australian opener. Shubman Gill and Jadeja bumped into each other as they ran for the catch. But luckily for India, Jadeja managed to hold on.
Cricket Australia took to Twitter to share the video of the catch, describing it as “Almost disaster! But Jadeja held his ground and held the catch!”
On day 1, Australian skipper Tim Paine won the toss and decided to bat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
