Harbhajan Singh, often known as Bhajji, celebrates his 41st birthday today, July 3rd.
He was one of the most talented spinners India had ever produced.

1. Harbhajan Singh’s first coach, Charanjit Singh, trained him as a batter in his early years. On the advice of his new coach Davinder Arora, he switched to spin bowling after Charanjit’s sad demise.
2. Harbhajan considers the number three to be his lucky number because he was born on July 3rd. He has always worn number three jersey.
3. In 103 test matches, the off-spinner grabbed 417 wickets, becoming him India’s third and youngest bowler to achieve this feat.
4. He was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2008 after being charged with insulting Andrew Symonds. He was also suspended from the first IPL for slapping Sreesanth in the same year.
5. Harbhajan Singh get the Arjuna Award in 2003 and the Padma Shri in 2009 for his achievements in cricket.
6. In the 2001 series against Australia, he became the first Indian bowler to bowl a hat-trick in test cricket.

7. Harbhajan was given the nickname ‘Bhajji’ by his India teammate Nayan Mongia because he found difficult to pronounce his full name and motivate him from behind the stumps.
8. Bhajji made history by being the first number 8 batsman to hit back-to-back test centuries in 2010. This accomplishment occurred during a home series versus New Zealand.
9. The nickname ‘Bhajji’ became so well-known that the off-spinner sold licencing rights to his name and received the ‘Bhajji’ patent in 2009. Harbhajan is now the owner of the ‘Bhajji’ sports lifestyle company.
10. Harbhajan has also made cameo roles in three popular films: Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004, 2013), and Second Hand Husband (2014, 2015). (2015).
