The ICC penalized both players for breaching their respective conduct codes. Siraj was fined 20% of his match fee for violating Article 2.5, while Head faced a similar fine for breaching Article 2.13.

IND vs AUS: During the second day of the Adelaide Test match, an argument flared up between India's star pacer Mohammad Siraj and Australia's Travis Head. After getting Head out, Siraj was seen gesturing for him to leave the field. Head, visibly upset, was also heard exchanging words with Siraj in return. Following this altercation, the ICC has imposed severe penalties on both players.

Siraj has been sentenced guilty to the violation of ICC Code of Conduct, Article 2.5; he has been fined 20 percent of his match fee and Head for violating the Article 2.13 of ICC code of conduct.

Both players have been handed one demerit point each, which is their first offence in the past 24 months. Siraj and Head have accepted the charges and penalties given to them by match referee Ranjan Madugle.
