IND vs NZ 2021, 2nd T20: India beat Kiwis by 7 wickets to win the T20 Series

India defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets in the second T20 of the three match series.

Men in Blue has won the three match series with this victory and are ahead with 2-0 lead over the Kiwis. This is a perfect start for the new Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma era.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first and restricted New Zealand on the score of 153 at the loss of 6 wickets and then chased it with 7 wickets and 16 balls remaining.

The Debutant Harshal Patel was awarded with the player of the match for his splendid bowling spell of 2 wickets for 25 runs in two overs.

Match Summary

Team India won the toss and invited Kiwis to bat first. Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell came to open the innings for Kiwis.

Both of them gave their team a quick start and joined a 48 runs opening partnership.

Deepak Chahar gave Team India the much needed break through in the 4th over as he dismissed Martin Guptill on the score of 31 runs of 15 balls.

Mark Chapman joined Daryl Mitchell and progressed the scoreboard for a while. Axar Patel gave Kiwis their second blow in the 9th over in form of Mark Chapman.

He got out after scoring 21 runs of 17 balls.

Glenn Phillips joined Daryl Mitchell but their partnership could not last for long as Daryl Mitchell lost his wicket to the debutant Harshal Patel after scoring 31 runs of 28 balls.

Ashwin gave India their fourth breakthrough in form of Tim Seifert. He got out after scoring 13 runs of 15 balls.

Glenn Phillips fired some blazing shots and played a crucial knock for his side. Harshal Patel dismissed Glenn Phillips on 34 runs of 21 balls to grab his second wicket of the debut night.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed James Neesham in the very next over and helped India restrict Kiwis on 153.

India managed to grab wickets during the end of the game and not allowed Kiwis to capitalise the death overs.

New Zealand could only manage to put 153 runs on the scoreboard at the loss of 6 wickets.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came to open the innings for Team India and chase the target.

Both of them gave India an amazing start and joined a 117 runs opening partnership. KL Rahul completed his half century.

Tim Southee gave Kiwis their first breakthrough as he dismissed KL Rahul on the score of 65 runs of 49 balls.

Venkatesh Iyer came in at number 3 and joined the skipper Rohit Sharma to progress the scoreboard. Rohit Sharma completed his half century too.

Tim Southee sent Rohit Sharma back too in his very next over. He got out after scoring 55 runs of 36 balls.

Tim Southee dismissed Surya Kumar Yadav on the score of 1 in the very same over. Southee was the only Kiwi bowler to be successful in finding wickets.

He finished with the bowling figures of 3 wickets for just 16 runs in four over.

Rishabh Pant smashed two consecutive sixes to James Neesham in the first two balls of the 18th over to complete the chase and win the match.

India with this victory won the series with 2-0 lead with one remaining. They will be looking forward to clean sweep Kiwis and win the last remaining match.
