India vs Australia 2nd Test Highlights - Day 2: Mitchell Starc’s Jaffa Removes Shubman Gill, Australia Dominates
India vs Australia: In an electrifying India vs Australia 2nd Test, a spellbinding delivery from Mitchell Starc left the entire stadium stunned, and now the social media is crazy over this dismissal of Shubman Gill. On Day 2 of Pink-Ball Test at Adelaide Oval, it happened when the full-length delivery by Starc back swung sharply in to dislodge the defense from the batsman, resulting in the stumps getting knocked out.
Starc's jaffa to dismiss Shubman Gill was the pick of the day and showcased the precision and skill of the pacer. A forlorn look on his face, Gill could do nothing but watch as the ball crushed his stumps and left India in a vulnerable position at 128/5. It was the delivery by Starc that turned the game, as India found it hard to establish an innings.
Earlier, Australia had gained a significant advantage with Travis Head scoring a blistering 140 off 141 balls. His powerful knock, including 17 fours and 4 sixes, helped Australia post 337 runs and take a commanding 152-run lead. Head’s attacking play set the foundation for Australia’s dominance on Day 2 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India could not come out of the shocks inflicted by the Australian fast bowlers led by Pat Cummins and Starc after Head's innings. KL Rahul got out early to a short ball from Cummins, while Yashasvi Jaiswal edged a delivery from Scott Boland to the keeper. The Indian batting line-up continued to go through a rough time as Virat Kohli fell to Boland after some relentless testing outside off-stump.
While Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy tried to rebuild the innings, India's second innings was under constant pressure from the Australian pacers. However, Pant did show some resistance with a few aggressive shots, like that remarkable reverse lap sweep off Boland.
Being only 29 runs behind and the batsmen Rishabh Pant, with 28*, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, with 15*, at the crease, all hope is now upon the shoulders of these batsmen to save India from yet another defeat and save this Test match series. This remains finely balanced as Australia has already shown a strong overall position for itself in the match.
