Led by Joe Root, England registered an unchallenged Test victory against Virat Kohli’s Team India on Tuesday in Chennai. 38-year-old Jimmy Anderson’s reverse swing and Jack Leach’s five-fer left the hosts trailing 0-1 in the four-match series as they lost the first Test by 227 runs. Root marked his 100th Test match and return to India with an emphatic double hundred and impeccable captaincy.

Playing against India, in their own backyard on a placid track, England left India rooted throughout the five days of play. As for India, they have to bounce back if they want to challenge New Zealand in the ICC Test Championship final.
