IPL 2020: Manish Pandey leaves Virat Kohli red-faced [Watch Video]

Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, is known for his animated persona on the field. Be it representing his IPL team or the Indian National Team, Kohli has always been the most energetic character on the field. While it comes to sledging or holding up the spirit of the gentleman’s game, the run-machine is always on his toes.

In such an on-field incident, Kohli was left red-faced while playing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Friday. Squaring off against David Warner’s SRH, RCB needed to defend 131 to qualify for the 2ns semi-final this year.

In the process, Kohli was given a fitting reply by SRH’s Manish Pandey. In the third over of SRH’s innings, Pandey was facing RCB’s Mohammed Siraj. After dismissing Shreevats Goswami for a duck, SRH needed a steady partnership. But Kohli and Co’s aim was to not let Pandey settle down in the crease.

To pile the pressure on SRH, Kohli was being quite vocal cheering up his team and commenting on the opponent’s batting. “Aaj nahi maar rha shot,” Kohli mocked Pandey as the latter was looking to settle down on the crease. But what followed was beyond Kohli’s wit. Pandey was quick to judge Siraj’s short-pitched ball and he struck it for a six.

Batting first, RCB failed to get going from the beginning. With AB de Villiers’ 56 and Aaron Finch’s 32 they managed to put up 131. For SRH, Jason Holder returned with 3 wickets and Natarajan picked up 2.

SRH missed Wriddhiman Saha in the opening position. Losing Goswami early, Warner and Co were under pressure as they lost wickets in crucial moments. However, Kane Williamson and Holder held their nerves to anchor the orange army home and qualify for Qualifier 2.
