The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been the grand stage for youngsters and newcomers to prove their worth. The 13th edition of the glamorous tournament was no different. While the behemoths like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Ben Stokes to name a few lit up the tournament with some power hitting, there were a handful of youngsters as well who dazzled with their swashbuckling performance.
The BCCI president picked half a dozen young talents who impressed with their feats in IPL 2020. While talking to Hindustan Times, Ganguly praised Mumbai Indians’, Suryakumar Yadav. Despite his consistent performance, Yadav failed to make it to the Indian team for the upcoming Australia tour. “He is a very good player,” said Ganguly in the interview. “His time will come.”
Besides Yadav, the former Indian captain also mentioned Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy, and Shubman Gill, and Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Devdutt Padikkal as the big domestic successes of the IPL 2020.

Suryakumar Yadav: This year, the Mumbai Indians No.3 has scored 410 runs in 14 matches so far. Averaging at 41.90 and striking at 148.3 he bagged 4 fifties and has been a vital cog in Mumbai’s journey to the final.
Sanju Samson: The Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman racked up 375 runs striking at 158.9. With three fifties, he finished the season at the 16th position of the runs table.
Rahul Tripathi: From 11 games the Kolkata Knight Riders batsman tallied 230 runs. Although he had one fifty to his name, he impressed with his flamboyant batting.
Varun Chakravarthy: Rising to fame from the Tamil Nadu Premier League, Chakravarthy has been KKR’s important inclusion this season. The mystery spinner spun his way to 17 wickets from 13 games. With an economy rate of 6.84 he also bagged his best t20 bowling figures of five for 20. Varun has been named in the India squad for the Australia tour this year.
Shubman Gill: India’s under 19 world cup winner, Gill has been KKR’s mainstay for the last 3 seasons. This year he amassed 440 runs from 14 games. He struck 3 fifties.
Devdutt Padikkal: Making his debut in the IPL, the RCB opener has impressed with his fearless batting. The southpaw lit up Dubai with five fifties in 15 games striking at 124.80.
