IPL 2021: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have begun full-fledged preparations for the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 with an intra-squad match on Tuesday, after training and net sessions.
RCB-B was led by opening batsman Devdutt Padikkal, while RCB A was led by Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel.
Senior batsman AB de Villiers got his season off to a good start with a 46-ball 104.
Harshal won the toss and chose to bowl first for RCB B.
The decision proved correct, as the team scored a total of 212/4.
De Villiers hit 10 sixes and seven fours in his innings.
When the senior batsman passed the three-figure mark, skipper Harshal and the other players erupted in applause.
Mohammed Azharuddeeen, in addition to De Villiers, shined with the bat, scoring a 43-ball 66.
With a knock of 95 off only 47 balls, KS Bharat, who had joined RCB in the IPL 2021 auction, surpassed de Villiers’ exploits and powered his team to victory.
Padikkal, the captain, chipped in with 36 points off 21 shots.
It would be interesting to see if Bharat can force his way into the starting lineup this season.
