IPL 2021: Prior to the start of the second phase of the IPL 2021, South Africa senior batsman and Chennai Super Kings starter Faf du Plessis has been suffering from a groin issue.

Du Plessis has been a significant performer at the top of the order for Chennai Super Kings, scoring 320 runs at an average of 64 in seven games in the first phase of the IPL 2021 in India.

Along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, he made an effective opening duo.

However, the injury has cast doubt on his availability for the remaining IPL games in the UAE. This will be a major setback to the Chennai Super Kings.

Here are three players who can replace Faf du Plessis in playing XI.

Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in international cricket at the present, as well as a superb spin bowler.

He is an intriguing substitute for Faf du Plessis at the top, and he has the potential to offer up new options.

In the first phase of the IPL 2021, Ali had a fantastic run for the CSK, scooping up wickets at one end and playing some scorching runs at number three.

He has been a vital contributor to the side and, at the moment, he appears to be T20 material.

Robin Uthappa

At the top of the order, Robin Uthappa has been one of the most prolific run scorers in IPL history, and the experienced batsman has plenty of IPL experience to assume Faf Du Plessis’ spot.

Uthappa was in excellent form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year; and he was anticipated to lead CSK to greater heights following a disappointing season the previous year.

Uthappa has 4609 runs to his credit in 189 IPL games, with a strike rate of 130.

N Jagadeesan, a batsman from Tamil Nadu, has spent a significant amount of time with the Chennai Super Kings; but he has only played five games with the team thus far.

He’s only played two innings so far, scoring a duck and a 33, and he hasn’t been given another chance.

This year, the wicket-keeper batsman was the biggest run-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali competition; playing at the top of the order for his squad; and his consistency in the TNPL is another feature of his game.
