CSK vs RR: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spun their way to victory against Rajasthan Royals on Monday. An all-round performance from Moen Ali and ‘inevitable’ Ravindra Jadeja’s show with the ball left Rajasthan high and dry. CSK won the game by 45 runs, which can be crucial for them in terms of net run rate. Moen was named the Man of the Match.
Rajasthan Royals crumble under pressure
Opener Jos Buttler’s 49 off 35 was the only highlights of RR’s batting. Chasing 189, Buttler gave the men in pink a solid start. He struck 5 fours and 2 sixes in his knock before perishing to Jadeja’s spin.
No other batsmen could find their feet against the spin of Jadeja and Ali. RR’s middle order were swept aside by CSK’s bowling in the second half of the innings.
Ali, Jadeja turn tides for CSK
After the initial onslaught from Buttler, MS Dhoni brought in his spinners. And the impact was immediate. Jadeja struck in the 12th over to remove Buttler and the rest followed. Ali picked up three wickets in three overs.
Besides chipping in with the ball and returning with 2 wickets, Jadeja grabbed 4 catches on the night. He is now 7th in the list of 4 catches in a match.
CSK’s in-depth batting pays off
Losing wickets up the order, it seemed Chennai will post a below average total. However, Sam Curran and DJ Bravo milked the bowlers for runs in the last few overs to post 188. Moen contributed with the bat at number three, yet again.
