Ravindra Jadeja, often hailed as ‘Sir’, had a memorable day on the field against Rajasthan Royals on Monday. Playing for Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede, Jadeja showed exactly why MS Dhoni called him ‘Sir.’
Jadeja made a huge impact with his lightning-quick fielding. He took four catches to help Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win the game comfortably.
Ravindra Jadeja’s unique celebration
However, during Jaddu’s excellent day on the ground, what really stood out was that he had come up with a unique celebration.
While the southpaw is known for his popular sword celebration, he devised a new one for this occasion.
This occurred in the final over of the match, which was bowled by Shardul Thakur. On the second delivery of that over, he had tail-ender Jaydev Unadkat caught by Jadeja at sweeper cover.
After he completed the catch, he held up four fingers to signify the number of individual catches and then topped it off with a special ‘call me’ celebration.
Even fans can’t resist themselves by making hilarious memes.
Aside from Unadkat, Ravindra Jadeja took Manan Vohra, Riyan Parag, and Chris Morris’ catches, respectively.
Jaddu also took a couple of wickets, including Jos Buttler and Shivam Dube, in his four overs. He finished with the figures of 2/28 at an economy rate of seven.
Meanwhile, CSK registered an empathetic win. On a fine batting wicket, Rajasthan limited Chennai to a manageable total of 188/9 from their 20 overs. Opener Faf du Plessis (33), Moeen Ali (26), and Ambati Rayudu (27) showed some resistance with the bat.
Dwayne Bravo, the Caribbean all-rounder, propelled Chennai Super Kings to a fighting total with a quickfire 8-ball unbeaten 20 at the end of the innings.
In response, despite losing Manan Vohra and skipper Sanju Samson, opener Jos Buttler (49) held the Royals in contention. But eventually perished to Jadeja’s spin.
The winners of the inaugural edition, however, suffered a batting collapse after dismissing the English limited-overs specialist, and were eventually restricted to 143/9.
CSK won by 45 runs and has now won their second match of the season.
