IPL 2021, KKR vs CSK: Rampant CSK end Kolkata’s run

CSK defeated KKR in a nail biting last ball thriller by 2 wickets.

The first half of the double header went till the last ball of the match to reach a decision.

KKR won the toss and elected to bat first.

Last couple of overs of the match were like a seesaw ride between both team. CSK eventually got the upper hand.

Ravindra Jadeja, The player of the match smashed 22 runs in the 19th over and changed the game for his team.

Match Summary

KKR won the toss and invited Chennai to bowl first.

Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer came to open the innings for KKR. Gill tried to put pressure on Chahar in the first over even hit him for two consecutive boundaries.

But lost his wicket because of miscommunication in form of a Run Out in the the first over itself.

This brought Rahul Tripathi to the crease. The man in form continued to depict good performance.

KKR lost the wicket of Iyer too in the last over of the powerplay. Iyer got out after scoring 18 of 15 balls.

The skipper Eoin Morgan failed yet again to score good runs and got out after scoring just 8 runs.

Tripathi’s 45 runs in 33 balls made sure to give team a good base before his departure.

Shardul Thakur dismissed dangerous seeming Russell in the 17th over on the score of 125.

Rana and Karthik steered the rest of the inning and put 171 on board.

Karthik smashed 19 runs to Sam Curran in the 19th over. Karthik got out in the last over after scoring a quick 26 of just 11 deliveries.

The Knights managed to put on a score of 171 on board.

Du Plessis and Gaikwad came to open the innings for CSK and chase the target of 172.

Both openers were in tremendous form and they showcased that in their 74 runs first wicket partnership.

Gaikwad lost his wicket to Russell after scoring 40 runs and Prasidh Krishna sent Du Plessis back.

Moeen Ali scored 32 runs in 28 balls before his departure in the 17th over by Lockie Ferguson.

CSK’s middle order failed as Raydu, Raina and Dhoni got out on low scores.

Varun Chakravarthy in the 18th over got Dhoni’s wicket and managed to only give 5 runs.

The real game changer happened in the 19th over when Jadeja smashed Prasidh Krishna for 22 runs in 6 balls.

CSk entering the last over only had 4 more runs in their target. Narine with the ball did manage to take 2 more wickets and stop CSK till last ball.

Deepak Chahar hit the ball for a single in the last ball to steal the victory from KKR in the Thrilling last over.

After winning this match, Super Kings are back on the top of the table. KKR are still in top 4 but they’ll have to win all their next matches to stay there and even look out for other teams.
