PBKS vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) marked skipper MS Dhoni’s 200th IPL game with a clinical win on Friday. Taking on Punjab Kings at the Wankhede, CSK won the game by six wickets. Co-incidentally MS Dhoni’s first game as Chennai captain was against Punjab Kings in 2008 and CSK won it too.
Four for Chahar
Riding Deepak Chahar’s spell-binding bowling and some superb fielding, Chennai restricted Punjab to 106/8 in 20 overs. Chahar was named the man of the match for his figures of 4/13. He rattled the PBKS top-order with his venomous swing bowling.
Chahar dismissed Mayank Agarwal in the 4th ball of the opening over. He dismissed Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran in the powerplay itself. The team that came off a 220+ score, were left dumbfounded as they were reduced to 26/5 in the sixth over.
With precision, from Chennai – Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja was electrifying in the field, as always. His direct hit from backward point sent KL Rahul back to the hut. And his stunning catch diving to his right left Chris Gayle speechless.
For Punjab, only Shahrukh Khan showed some resilience with the bat. He scored 47 off 36 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Punjab’s line-up otherwise looked like a phone number – 5,0,10,10,0,9,0.
Moen powers Chennai
Chasing 107, Chennai got contributions from Faf de Plessis and Moen Ali. Despite a low scoring total, CSK did stumble on the way. Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaekwad were out on single digits.
It was Moen Ali who clattered 7 fours and 1 six in his cameo of 46 off 31. Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 36. The pair put up 66 runs together to ensure Chennai didn’t derail from the game.
