His cameo of 25* off 17 helped Punjab get to 179 earlier.
PBKS’ Brar sinks big guns
Royal Challengers Bangalore fell 35 runs short of their target of 180 at Ahmedabad. Besides Virat Kohli’s 35 and Harshal Patel’s cameo in the death over, no other batsmen could pave the way for the chase.
Devdutt Padikkal, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Shahbaz Ahmed, Daniel Sams all returned on single figures. Punjab’s Brar made an inspiring comeback after conceding 10 of his first over. Fabulous Rahul hammers RCB
Batting first, KL Rahul and Prabhsimran Singh negotiated the early swing of the new ball well. Once the swing wore off, Rahul got going. Prabhsimran perished in the 4th over. Chris Gayle and Rahul took on the RCB bowlers to knead a 80 run partnership.
Gayle was the aggressor among the pair while Rahul took his time to press on the gas. Gayle returned on 46. Rahul ensured he stayed till the last and struck an unbeaten 91 off 57 balls. He belted 7 fours and 5 sixes. Brar’s 17 ball cameo of 25 helped Punjab reach 179 in 20 overs.
For RCB, Kyle Jamieson picked up two. Daniel Sams, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shahbaz Ahmed returned with one apiece. Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel failed to return with any wickets.
