IPL 2021, PBKS vs SRH: Punjab Kings beat SRH in a close contest by 5 runs

In the second half of the double header. Punjab Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in a really close contest.

SRH won the toss and offered the Kings to bat first.

Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase a small target like 126.

In the first inning SRH restrict the Kings at a score of 125 but could not manage to chase it.

Punjab too failed in batting but showcased a splendid performance in the bowling department and beat SRH by 5 runs.

Jason Holder was awarded with player of the match for his outstanding all round performance. Holder grabbed 3 wickets and scored 47 runs in 29 balls.

Match Summary

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss amd elected to bowl first. The decision seemed fantastic as SRH was successful to restrict PBKS on a low score.

KL Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal, the two most successful batsmen for the side came to open the innings for Punjab Kings.

KL Rahul did got the start but was unable to capitalise it. Punjab lost both it’s openers in the fifth over to Jason Holder.

Chris Gayle was sent back to pavallion by Rashid Khan before he could turn dangerous for their side.

Aiden Markram did score 27 of 32 balls but failed to capitalise the start. Punjab lost their wickets in quick successions.

Punjab’s batting line-up failed to build a partnership at any point of the game.

Ellis and Brar did fire some shots in the last over and managed to take the total to 125 in 20 overs.

Jason Holder, the man of the match took 3 wickets for 19 runs in four overs and played the crucial role in restricting Punjab Kings.

Warner and Saha came to open the innings for SRH and chase the total of 126.

David Warner got out on the third ball of the match and returned to pavallion after scoring just 2 runs.

SRH lost their skipper too in the third over. Kane Williamson got out after scoring 1 run.

SRH just like Punjab Kings lost wickets in quick succession.

Saha and Holder did try to chase the target but both of them failed too.

Saha got run out on 31 and than it was all on Holder’s shoulders.

Holder did fought till the last ball but eventually failed and lost the match by 5 runs.

SRH with this loss is officially out of the play off race. The season clearly wasn’t for the the former champions.
