IPL 2021, RCB vs RR: Maxwell and Bharat’s knocks slimmer RR chances to qualify for playoffs

Rajasthan Royals was up against RCB in a do or die match for their playoff race.

RR is currently on number 7 on the points table with 8 points. If they lose this match, their chances of making it to the playoffs will be next to impossible.

RCB won the toss and elected to field first and even managed to limit the Rajasthan’s score to 149 for 9 wickets.

RR did got an amazing start but yet again their middle order faltered and failed to capitalise the start.

Harshal Patel striked thrice in the last over and achieved a new milestone. Harshal Patel is now the leading wicket taker for RCB in a single season.

He surpassed his fellow player Yuzvendra Chahal and predecessor Vinay Kumar.

RCB managed to chase the target of 150 with 7 wickets and 17 remaining.

Maxwell and Bharat steered the RCB innings to victory.

Yuzvendra Chahal was awarded for his economical bowling performance. He took 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs.

RCB won the toss and invited RR to bat first.

Lewis and Jaiswal came to open the innings for Rajasthan Royals.

Both Lewis and Jaiswal targeted the RCB bowlers from the first ball and gave their team a blazing start.

Lewis and Jaiswal did a 77 runs opening partnership before Jaisawal’s departure on Dan Christian’s ball. Jaisawal scored 31 of 22 balls.

Lewis kept on firing shots and completed his half century.

George Garton gave RCB their second break through in form of Lewis.

Skipper Sanju Samson scored 19 runs before his departure and lost his wicket to Shahbaz Ahmed, who sent back Tewatia in the same over.

No other RR batsmen could manage to score runs and as a result what was earlier seeming to be 200 plus score, could not even reach 150.

Rajasthan Royals lost 9 wickets in 20 overs and could only manage to score 149 in such a crucial clash for their survival in the playoffs race.

Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal came to open the innings and chase the target of 150 for RCB.

Both Kohli and Padikkal gave team a steady start and did a 48 runs opening partnership before Padikkal’s departure in the final over of the powerplay after scoring 22 runs.

Then RR got the wicket of Virat Kohli in form of a run out in the very next over. This seemed to be the chance of Rajasthan Royals comeback.

But Maxwell and Bharat had something different in mind. They steered the rest of RCB innings to victory.

Bharat scored 44 runs in 35 balls and Maxwell an unbeaten 50 in just 30 deliveries.

Bharat got out in the 16th over, but the work was done.

RCB managed to keep his winning streak and slimmed RR’s chances of reaching to playoffs next to impossible.
