IPL 2021: RR beat PBKS by 2 runs; Kartik Tyagi leads Royals to victory in last over thriller

Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings in a ‘nail bitting’ thriller by 2 runs.

KL Rahul led Punjab Kings won the toss and gave Rajasthan Royals the opportunity to bat first.

Rajasthan Royals got a good start and they were able to put a big score of 185 on board in spite of losing all 10 wickets.

Arshdeep Singh the star of the first innings, sent 5 Royals’ batsmen back to pavilion.

The way, Punjab Kings were Batting throughout the second inning, they made it seem as, they will chase a target of 186 in less than 2 overs.

But Rajasthan Royals bowlers choked, the Kings in last two overs for runs and stole the victory from their grasp.

Kartik Tyagi, the Man of the Match striked twice in the last over and sent the dangerous Nicholas Pooran and Deepak hooda back to pavallion, to ensure their victory.

Match Summary

Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to open for the Royals and gave a good start.

Rajasthan Royals scored 57 runs in the first batting powerplay, at the loss of one wicket. In form Evin Lewis scored 36 runs in 21 balls in his IPL debut.

Then came, Sanju Samson, the skipper yet again failed to impress and continue his streak of low scores.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mahipal Lomror gave the team support and runs it needed. Both the youngsters missed their half-a- ton, but did the job for the team.

After the duo’s departure, it was all Punjab bowlers. None of the other Royals batsman could manage to score even 10 runs.

Punjab took wickets in regular intervals and skittled out Rajasthan Royals on the score of 185.

KL Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal came in to open the Punjab innings. Both Batsmen gave team a really good headstart, they crossed the 50 run mark, in the first powerplay itself.

They both added a opening partnership of 120 runs, making the victory almost sure.

First wicket came at the score of 120, in form of the skipper himself. KL Rahul lost his wicket to Chetan Sakariya in the 12th over, after scoring 49 of just 33 deliveries.

Mayank Aggarwal scored a devastating half century but lost his wicket just in the next over after his skipper’s departure. Mayank scored 67 runs of 43 balls.

Both the openers before returning back to pavallion did their job, gave team the much needed headstart.

Than came in, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran. By the time they both were at the ground, they made it seem as the target will be achieved way before 20 overs.

The twist came in the 19th over, when Mustafizur Rahman only gave 4 runs building the pressure on the Kings.

Than came Kartik Tyagi to bowl the game changing final over. He only had four runs to protect and with Pooran and Markram on pitch, the task seem to be impossible.

Tyagi took the wicket of dangerous, Nicholas Pooran on the second ball and Deepak Hooda on the fifth one.

Tyagi only gave two runs in his over and took two important wickets and snatched the victory away from the Punjab Kings.

That is ‘Cricket’for you, what seem an easy win for the Kings, went till the last over where they actually lost the match by just two runs.

Rajasthan Royals have now jumped to the 5th position, increasing. Their chances of reaching the Playoffs.

Whereas, it seem quite impossible for the Punjab Kings to make it to the Playoffs, this season.
