IPL 2021: Twitter flooded with memes as BCCI suspends tournament

After its air-tight bio-bubble was breached and several COVID-19 cases were registered, the BCCI decided to suspend the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) indefinitely.

On Tuesday, the BCCI and the IPL governing council took the unanimous decision.

Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, both of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), were the first two players to test positive for COVID.

According to reports four players, one coach, and a number of staff and ground crew members have contracted the deadly virus. They are in isolation according to protocol.

On the other hand, multiple ground workers at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium tested positive for the virus, prompting multiple teams to isolate themselves.

The BCCI issued an official statement stating that the IPL 2021 season will be suspended with immediate effect. As they did not want to compromise the safety of the players, support staff, and other IPL participants.
