Two of the IPL players Monday players tested positive for COVID-19. This now casts doubt over whether the world’s richest cricket tournament will be able to continue or not.

India is currently going through a deadly second wave of the coronavirus. This has already burdened the entire healthcare system of the country.

India reported more than 300,000 new coronavirus cases for the 12th straight day Monday.

BCCI forging ahead with the IPL against this backdrop of rising COVID-19 cases braved the fierce social media criticism for continuing the tournament.

Moreover, a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was postponed Monday.

The decision to postpone it came after two Kolkata players tested positive. Varun Chakaravarthy and Sandeep Warrier have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Though other teammates tested negative. BCCI have come out saying that they understand the situation and want to support the players in making sure they get home safely in the end.
