IPL 2022 is still months away but it is still one of the hottest topic among the cricketing world.
BCCI has announced 30th November as the final date for all franchise to submit their retention list.
According to the rules a franchise can only retain up to 4 players, 3 Indians and 1 overseas.
As there will be two new franchise as well they will have the opportunity to select three Players from all the released names right before the auction itself.
These retention rules are made so that no franchise has to start from scratch and will have a minimum of 4 players.
Delhi’s retention list
Delhi Capitals is one of the most successful teams of past few IPL Seasons. They reached the Qualifier 2 in the IPL 2021 while finishing on the top of the group table.

They were the runner ups in the previous one of that and their squad is one of the main reason behind their success.
Unfortunately just like every other franchise, they too can only retain four players and Delhi Capitals has made up their mind.
Delhi Capitals has decided to retain the skipper Rishabh Pant, opening batsman Prithvi Shaw, All rounder Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje as the sole overseas player.
The decision may seem right but they had to release some really big names from the squad.
Shikhar Dhawan one of the highest run scorer of the last season, former skipper Shreyas Iyer, veteran spinner Ashwin and even the ace of their squad Kagiso Rabada.

Rabada was one of the biggest match winners for Delhi and they will surely miss his presence in the squad.
Shreyas Iyer will definitely be a big name in the auction and will draw many buyers.
The IPL is still months away but it’s fever is already in the atmosphere with the retention game.
