IPL 2022: Russell and Narine thank KKR for retention, KKR is only place I want to be in IPL cricket, says Sunil Narine

Published Date:

IPL 2022 is currently the biggest cricketing topic in the world in spite of the fact that there are still months left in it.

All IPL franchises have given the list of retained players before the mega auction to BCCI.

This was a tough call for most of the IPL teams as they had a really strong squad and connection with their respective players.

Teams such as KKR, MI, DC, RCB and CSK had a really strong young calibre that they had to release because of the new policy.

The players that were retained during the retention period have depicted their gratitude towards their respective team.

Narine and Russell on Retention

The Windies players Sunil Narine and Andre Russell are among the four players that Kolkata Knight Riders have retained.

KKR have retained a total of four players that include Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell.

According to the KKR management this was a really tough call considering the talent and young calibre they had in their squad but this can be the perfect nucleus for the team before mega auction and upcoming three years.

Sunil Narine has been a a match winner for KKR on countless occasions and is one of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game.

The Windies spinner along with Varun Chakravarthy is a perfect spinner duo for KKR ahead of the season.

“I am very excited, it’s the only place I want to be in IPL Cricket at the moment. If KKR has a team anywhere in the world, I would prefer playing for them, whether its KKR or TKR or any other franchise that they would have. It’s been 10 good years through thick and thin and KKR has been a loyal franchise and i look forward to playing at Eden Gardens again next year,” said Sunil Narine.

All-rounder Andre Russell who has been the trump ace for KKR in last eight seasons also thanked KKR for all the love and support and said he wishes to be a member of the franchise in all the leagues globally.

He said ” Over the last eight seasons I have been a Knight Rider player and it’s amazing that they continue to show me so much love. My journey with KKR continues and I appreciate the trust, support and confidence they have shown in me across the years”.

Andre Russell has helped KKR win matches from the points where there was no hope of winning and has been a crucial part of the side for past so many seasons and he is looking forward to continue that.
