IPL 2021 player auction’s biggest surprise was when Chennai Super Kings picked up Cheteshwar Pujara on Thursday. Pujara shared his thoughts on playing IPL when he registered his name for the auction this year.
India’s red-ball specialist, in recent years, has also expressed his desire of representing India in shorter format too.
Going by the years, CSK’s trend have always been choosing experience over talent. In the history of IPL, we have seen that CSK avoid making too many changes and continues with their core team.
This approach has repaid them in terms of players’ confidence. CSK was the only franchise to bid for Cheteshwar Pujara. They bought Pujara for Rs 50 lacs.
MS Dhoni never goes after big names; he knows how to make small names popular. Dhoni gives enough support and trust to his team and brings out the best from them. The most successful captain of IPL this time has shown his trust in ‘The Modern Wall’ of Indian Test team Pujara.
CSK hailed for picking Cheteshwar Pujara
Everyone from cricket fraternity applauded CSK for picking Puajra in the auction. Current players from Indian Team showed their happiness on twitter.
During the auction also every franchise hailed CSK’s decision.
CSK fans have welcomed the Saurashtra player with their trade-mark celebration – Whistle-podu.
Cheteshwar Pujara also posted a video on Twitter showing his gratitude towards Dhoni and management and has promised the fans to entertain them.
Three times IPL champion CSK finished in the bottom four in previous year’s IPL. Their strategy of keeping players of age above 30 backfired. Still, this year they are adamant on their way of selecting squad.
CSK also bought Moeen Ali for Rs 7 crore. Moeen who had a tough time with RCB last year was released by the franchise. Many cricket pundits are praising this decision, as they think Moeen will come up with his A game under Dhoni. CSK has also picked Robin Uthappa in the trade window.
