IPL 2022 is currently the biggest cricketing topic in the world in spite of the fact that there are still months left in it.
All IPL franchises have given the list of retained players before the mega auction to BCCI.
This was a tough call for most of the IPL teams as they had a really strong squad and connection with their respective players.
IPL Auction the must awaited event has now finally begun and IPL would be seen with a new title sponsor again this year.
The Big Bowling Shark
Amongst all the excitement of the beginning the Mega Auction, the first player to go under the Hammer was none than the veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan.
As expected he caused a bidding war between teams. Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings were in a bidding war for the opener.
At the End, Shikhar Dhawan was picked by Punjab Kings the team with the biggest budget for 8.25 Cr Rupees.
Shikhar Dhawan would be seen opening with Mayank Aggarwal in the upcoming IPL season, a magnificent sight to watch.
Dhawan would technically be the replacement of KL Rahul in the kings camp both as the opening batsman and most probably as the captain too.
Punjab Kings then again took the advantage of their big purse and grabbed a really big name for their squad.
This time it was the Proteas fast bowling Icon and the expert seamer Kagiso Rabada. Delhi did try to get him back in the squad but Punjab out bidded them.
They grabbed Kagiso Rabada for a huge amount of 9.25 Cr, once again being the big bully with a big purse.
Punjab Kings might have invested a huge amount early in the auction but it was worth it, as they grabbed two match winning assets.
