Pace Dominates Perth Test: India and Australia produced a theatricalally rapid over-the-top display of fast bowling on the first day of the Perth Test as 17 wickets fell. India batted first and were bowled out for 150 before mounting an impressive fight with their bowlers leaving Australia at 67/7 by stumps. Jasprit Bumrah led the attack with four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj took two scalps.
Australia's top order collapsed under relentless pace. Debutant Nathan McSweeney scored only 10 runs before falling to Bumrah, while Usman Khawaja (8) and Steve Smith (0) also collapsed quickly. Their middle order too staged a 19-run stand but ultimately collapsed, with the blows from Harshit Rana and Siraj turning out to be crucial as well. Alex Carey remained unbeaten on 19, while Mitchell Starc was not out on 6.
India's innings was strengthened by the performance of debutante Nitish Kumar Reddy, who made a gritty 41. KL Rahul chipped in with 26 while Rishabh Pant added 37 to the total over the last wicket, aggregating 48 runs, and now today it is the top notch Australian pace attack led by Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, as it took all 10 wickets.
The second day promises further excitement into this fast-bowling-dominated contest as momentum now swings India's way.
