Priyansh Arya Eyes RCB Spot with Virat Kohli After Stunning Delhi Premier League Performance

Bengaluru — Rising cricket star Priyansh Arya has expressed a strong desire to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and play alongside his idol, Virat Kohli. Arya's aspirations come on the heels of a spectacular performance in the 2024 Delhi Premier League (DPL), where he hit six consecutive sixes in a single over, catching the attention of IPL franchises.

In a recent interview, Arya, who played for South Delhi Superstars, revealed his ambition to represent RCB in the Indian Premier League (IPL). “My dream is to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore with Virat Kohli. He is my cricketing hero, and I admire his aggressive style of play. I strive to emulate his attacking batting approach,” Arya said.

The 23-year-old cricketer has been a standout performer in the DPL 2024, amassing a total of 602 runs in 9 matches. His record-setting feat of hitting six sixes off spinner Mannan Bhardwaj has added a new chapter to his cricketing journey. Arya also scored two centuries during the tournament, including an unbeaten 120 off just 50 balls against North Delhi Strikers.

Arya's remarkable innings, including a partnership of 286 runs with South Delhi's captain Ayush Badoni, led his team to a mammoth total of 308 runs in 20 overs. Badoni's explosive 165 off 55 balls contributed significantly to the victory, as North Delhi Strikers could only muster 196 runs in response.

Reflecting on his six-sixes achievement, Arya noted, “After hitting the fourth six, my confidence soared, and I felt I could hit a couple more. Ayush also boosted my confidence. Our captain provides us with the freedom to play to our potential without imposing too many restrictions.”

With the BCCI's mega auction for IPL 2025 scheduled for December 2024, Arya’s exceptional performance has increased the likelihood of IPL franchises vying for his talent. As he looks to make his mark on the IPL stage, Priyansh Arya remains a player to watch.
