Rohit Sharma Refuses to Pose with Champions Trophy, Cites Personal Reason for Decision
The eagerly awaited Champions Trophy will begin on February 19, and to mark the occasion, the sparkling trophy was placed at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium—currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. Several cricket legends, including Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Ravi Shastri, were present at the event, as was Team India Captain Rohit Sharma.
Rohit refused the offer of the center stage when invited by cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar, where the Champions Trophy was presented. Instead, he asked to be replaced so that the cricketing greats should get the pride of place. He thus gave up the lime light, displaying his respect towards his seniors and deepening the sense of his considerate and a grounded leader.
During the match, the Indian captain expressed his dreams for the series. He remained confident in his team and expressed his resolve to bring the trophy back home into Wankhede Stadium while hoping that 1.4 billion Indians were wishing and praying to help the side win the competition.
Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri were asking Captain Rohit Sharma to stand near the Champions Trophy during photo shoot, but Rohit refused to stand near the trophy and stood in the corner.🥹❤️
