Sunil Chaturvedi Honored as Chief Referee at 18th National Grappling Championship
Sunil Chaturvedi from Kanpur was honored for his exceptional role as a chief referee at the 18th National Grappling Championship. He also passed the high-level referee exam and advocated for sports camps in slum areas at the annual meeting. He has now become part of the elite referee category.

Kanpur | In the recently concluded 18th National Grappling Championship held at the Meenatai Thackeray Stadium Indoor Hall in Nashik, Maharashtra, Kanpur’s own Sunil Chaturvedi was honored for his exemplary role as a chief referee. The event, held from May 30 to June 1, saw male and female grapplers from various weight categories across Uttarakhand participate. Sunil's outstanding performance as a referee earned him recognition from the Grappling Federation of India, where IPS Officer OP Narwal awarded him for his contributions.
Sunil’s Contribution to Grappling and Sports Policy
At the annual meeting of the federation, Sunil spoke about the development policies for sports and players. Representing Uttar Pradesh, he suggested the organization of sports camps in schools across various states to encourage youth participation. His idea to enhance participation levels among children from slum areas was also widely appreciated by the representatives of all states.
Sunil Becomes a High-Level Referee
In addition to his role as a referee, Sunil also participated in the high-level referee examination, which he successfully passed. This achievement has now earned him a position in the elite category of referees in the country.
