T20 World Cup 2021, AUS vs BAN: Aussies beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets, climb to number 2

T20 World Cup is in the super 12 stage and Australia defeated Bangladesh in a really dominant fashion in the first half of the double header.

Aussies with this dominant victory over Bangladesh have regained their top 2 spot by getting ahead of the Proteas in net runrate.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Aussies bowled out Bangladesh on 73 runs and then chased it with 8 wickets and 82 balls remaining.

Adam Zampa was awarded with the player of the match for his splendid bowling spell of 5 wickets for 19 runs in his four over spell. He played a crucial role in finishing Bangladesh on a low score.

Match Summary

Australia won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. Naim and Das came to open the innings for Bangladesh.

The openers failed to gave their team a start as Liton Das got out in the first over itself. Starc dismissed Das on a golden duck.

Soumya Sarkar came at number 3 but got out in the very next over after scoring 5 runs of 8 balls on Josh Hazlewood’s delivery.

Bangladesh received another blow in the third over as Mushfiqur Rahim got out after scoring just 1 run of 2 balls on Maxwell’s delivery.

Aussies threw Bangladesh on backfoot as they grabbed 3 wickets on the score of 10 by the third over.

Naim and Mahmudullah progressed the scoreboard for a while but Hazlewood gave Bangladesh another blow just before they could think of recovering.

Naim got out after scoring 17 runs of 16 balls in the sixth over.

Adam Zampa gave Bangladesh another blow in the very next over as he dismissed Afif Hossain on a four ball duck.

Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket by the seventh over on the score of 33. Mahmudullah and Shamim Hossain joined 29 runs but Adam Zampa gave Aussies another breakthrough before the partnership could get bigger.

Shamim Hossain got out after scoring 19 runs of 18 balls. Adam Zampa dismissed Mahedi Hasan on the very next ball on a golden duck.

Bangladesh lost their skipper Mahmudullah in the 13th over to Starc. He got out after scoring 16 of 18 balls.

It was all over for Bangladesh from here and remaining formalities were completed by Adam Zampa as he dismissed both Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam in the same over to complete his 5 wickets haul.

Bangladesh got all out on the score of 73.

David Warner and Aaron Finch came to open the innings for Australia and chase the target.

Both of them gave their team a great start. Finch was playing an aggressive innings while Warner took his time.

Warner and Finch joined 58 runs in first five overs before Finch’s departure in the 5th over. He got out after scoring 40 runs of 20 balls on Taskin Ahmed’s delivery.

Shoriful Islam took another wicket in the very next over as he dismissed David Warner. He got out after scoring 18 runs of 14 balls.

But both Finch and Warner did their job before their departure.

The rest was taken care of by Mitchell Marsh. He scored a quick 16 of 5 balls and and ensured the Aussies’ victory.

Australia with a dominant victory have now regained their top 2 spot of their group getting ahead of Proteas.
